We discussed chapter 1 and read chapter 2 together as a class. Students responded to vocabulary questions from these first two chapters. We practiced our one-act plays for Wednesday's performance. Students will read and respond to chapters 3-5 tomorrow in class.
We began our study of the novel "The Giver". Students discussed and responded to the challenge of creating an ideal society or "utopia". We read chapter 1 aloud in class.
Students had time today to rehearse and practice reading through their one-act scripts. We will practice again on Monday. Presentations will be in class on Wednesday.
Students completed writing their scripts together in class today. These 1-2 minute one-act plays feature an historic figure that helps young people resolve a conflict in their lives. We will put the finishing touches on these scripts tomorrow and rehearse. Presentations of these short scripts will take place in class on Wednesday of next week.
Students completed planning for their one-act plays and began writing these together in their groups. We will continue writing in class tomorrow and begin rehearsals on Thursday.
We began our research for our one act plays based on an historical figure. Students can view the resources and examples in google classroom. We will begin to write our scripts tomorrow in class. This will be a group writing project that will be presented in class next Wednesday.
