We completed a practice plot diagram based on the short film "One Man Band" and used this experience to complete a similar diagram for the short story "Joy-Riding".
We completed our unit 1 exam. Grades are posted online. When finished their exam, students completed the literal, inferential, and critical questions for Joy-Riding
We reviewed our upcoming unit test using the unit 1 Review assignment. Students can hand this assignment in prior to their exam tomorrow so that it can be used for studying. We completed reading Joy-Riding and began our literal question responses.
We discussed our unit 1 review assignment and used some class time to work through the various activities within it. Students are asked to complete this for Tuesday if they have not finished as it will allow us to correct questions prior to the unit test on Wednesday. We began reading "Joy-Riding", a short story with two narrative points of view.
We completed our review and practice of internal punctuation including commas, colons, and semi-colons. Students began working on the unit 1 test review sheet. Our exam will be next Wednesday.
We revised, edited, and submitted our narrative paragraphs. Students visited the library to renew and check out reading materials for AR goals. We began notes and discussion of internal punctuation as the final topic in unit 1.
We completed our first draft of our crossing the road narrative paragraphs. Students used a self-editing guide to identify and upgrade parts of speech to make their writing more descriptive. We will peer edit and complete further revisions tomorrow in class.
We discussed the three types of questions and responses to narrative texts. Students completed their questions related to the short "crossing the road" story from Grapes of Wrath. We began drafting our own crossing the road narrative paragraphs in google classroom.
