We completed our review assignment and began a design project based on the themes of one of the short stories read in class.
We continued our work on the short story review assignment "Golden Pants". We reviewed plot vs. theme and developed theme statements for some of the stories studied so far in our unit.
We reviewed units 1 and 2. Students referred to their Elements of Fiction notes handout as we discussed the midterm exam and began working on our review story "Golden Pants". This short story will help summarize and review key aspects of the short story unit for our midterm exam and Unit exam in February.
We compared imagery and mood in the short story "Masque of the Red Death" with the imagery and mood portrayed in the film version. We completed notes and a practice exercise about the three types of irony. We began our review of unit 1 for the midterm exam and will complete the correcting on the review assignment tomorrow in class.
We completed our reading and discussion of "The Masque of the Red Death" By Edgar Allan Poe. Students identified the imagery and mood created in this short story. We will compare this to the theatrical performance tomorrow.
We submitted our comparison essays in Google Classroom and reviewed Unit 1 for our midterm exam Feb 1st. We discussed mood and imagery and began reading "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe.
We edited and revised our essays after creating Works Cited pages referencing both the story and the film. Essays are due tomorrow and should be ready for printing in class first thing.
We discussed revision comments and strategies for improving body paragraphs. Students began work on their concluding paragraphs today and should have a rough draft of their essay ready for editing and revision tomorrow. Essays are due Friday.
