We completed reading and discussing chapter 13, the end of part one of our novel study. Students completed their chapter 10-13 questions and continued reading independently into part 2 of the novel. We will have a quiz on chapters 1-13 on Friday.

We read and discussed the events of chapters 10-12 in our novel study. Cole has been rescued from the island and it seems he has changed through this experience.
We discussed the questions for chapters 6-9 that are due tomorrow. Students continued work on these and began reading and responding to chapters 10-13.
Students not attending the camping trip continued their work on chapters 6-9 of our novel study Touching Spirit Bear.
We completed our character sketch of Cole, the protagonist in our novel study and discussed key events in chapters 3-5. We will continue with our reading and response to chapters 6-9 tomorrow.
Students completed chapters 3-5 questions for their novel study Touching Spirit Bear and began a dynamic character project in groups on bulletinboard paper.
We read and discussed a forward introduction to our novel by its author, Ben Mikaelsen. We read and responded to chapters 1-2 and will continue with this work on Monday.
Grade 9s were away at Skills Canada today. Tomorrow they will begin their novel studies with Mr. Parkinson while I accompany the grade 8s to Skills Canada.
We competed our PAT exam today. I am proud of everyone's efforts and the writing skills they demonstrated for this exam. Good work.
We completed our review and discussed strategies for tomorrow's PAT exam. We will meet for the exam in period 1. The exam will commence at 9 am and run until 11:30. Students are reminded that cell phones are not permitted in the exam room.
