We completed a computer simulation of a mixtures and separation lab and then tried to make similar solutions and suspensions in our own lab activity.
We completed our properties of matter investigation today identifying characteristics that distinguish two materials or objects.
We completed our activity sheets on matter and its phases. Students recorded notes on traits that can be used to identify different matter and the objects made up of matter.
We completed our separation through evaporation lab and completed our anticipation pages that are due Monday.
We corrected our mixing and separating solids activity from yesterday and created a solution of salt water to determine if evaporation could separate this homogeneous mixture. We will complete our observations and conclusions for this activity tomorrow.
We organized our binders, filing our electricity unit materials in the classroom storage bin with our materials from the Weather Watch unit. We examined two additional methods of separating solid mixtures, wind and water. Students continued their work on the anticipation page for Classroom Chemistry.
We discussed homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures and used sieves and magnets to separate mixtures of solids.
We completed our notes for the introduction of chemistry and began our anticipation page for our classroom chemistry unit. We will continue to work on this anticipation page next week as time allows after or experiments.
We continued our work with solids, liquids, and gasses describing their characteristics that help identify these states of matter.
Today we built our brushbots. Students were able to take these mini-robots home with them after constructing them in class today. Great work everyone.
