We completed Letter #2 today and visited the library to exchange and renew books. Letter #1 was returned with feedback. Students are asked to make revisions to #1 based on the comments given.
We discussed the outlining of a business letter prior to writing and began drafting Letter #2. Feedback from Letter #1 will be returned to students tomorrow in class.
We discussed the letter of complaint and reviewed an example. Students completed their Letter #1, printed, and turned in their drafts for feedback. I will comment on these letters, though no grade will be assigned to this first attempt.
We wrote our unit 1 exam and completed Letter #1 when finished. The letter is not for homework. We will continue working together on this first one, revising and editing it on Tuesday.

We reviewed the format of a business letter's envelope and took some brief notes about the format of the letter itself. Students used the functional writing rubric to score three letter samples. We will begin our first letter tomorrow after reviewing these examples together. The unit 1 review sheet is due tomorrow so that it can be handed back prior to Friday's exam.
We reviewed the sentences and parts of speech quiz and began the review assessment that is due Wednesday. This review will help students prepare for the Unit Exam on Friday. We also discussed and practiced the correct format for addressing an envelope as the first topic in our Business writing unit.
