Grade 9s were away at Skills Canada today. Tomorrow they will begin their novel studies with Mr. Parkinson while I accompany the grade 8s to Skills Canada.

We competed our PAT exam today. I am proud of everyone's efforts and the writing skills they demonstrated for this exam. Good work.
We completed our review and discussed strategies for tomorrow's PAT exam. We will meet for the exam in period 1. The exam will commence at 9 am and run until 11:30. Students are reminded that cell phones are not permitted in the exam room.
We began our final review assignment in preparation for PAT Part A on Tuesday. Students are writing a letter and essay from start to finish using the outlining and writing strategies we have discussed over the past few weeks. Study resources, such as sample essays are available in the google classroom. Students may also study by reviewing past essays and letters they have completed themselves.
We completed, printed, and handed in the practice Letter #2. Good work on this. Students began working on the final review package. This pack contains one essay and one letter prompt. We will complete these as independently as possible to simulate the exam situation and identify any areas of review that individuals may require prior to Tuesday's PAT exam.
We began practice letter #2 today in preparation for our PAT exam on Tuesday of next week. We will complete this letter tomorrow in class and discuss reviewing strategies that students can use to prepare further.
We completed Letter #1 today in class. We will time our next practice letter to complete within the 40 min time allowance for the PAT. Keep up the great work everyone.
We discussed the sample letter introduced last Friday. Students began drafting our first practice letter in favor of an anti-idling bylaw. This letter prompt, notes, and structure guides can be viewed in the google classroom.
Students revised and edited their selection of essay #2, 3, or 4 before printing and submitting this selection for grading. Our PAT Part A exam will be Tuesday, May 9th in the AM classes. We will begin our review of Business letter writing tomorrow and continue our preparations for this exam next week.
We examined an example of a student's essay for topic #3 and how it was generated from a mind map planning web. We created webs for Essay #4 before being excused to the library. Students returned to begin drafting the essay in google classroom.
