We reviewed for Wednesday's midterm exam and completed an activity based on the satirical essay "Learn with Book".
We completed our transitions practice and began reading and responding to "Learn With Book" a satirical essay in our text.
We completed our essays and visited the library. Students worked through a transitions activity and added transitions to their essays where needed. We spent some time reviewing for our midterm by playing a quiz game as a class.
We continued work on our tribute essays. Students reviewed transition words and transitional phrases and were encouraged to include both in their essays as they write. When finished students are asked to complete the editing checklist and the transitions assignment. We will continue to work on this essay and activities tomorrow in class.
We began writing our tribute essays in google classroom based on the mind mapping done yesterday in class.
We discussed the Tribute essay and completed the response questions for this reading. Students began outlining a tribute essay for a person they admire that we will begin tomorrow in class.
We corrected our responses to "Runningshoe Run-around" and discussed Paul Simon's Tribute "Here is to you Joe DiMaggio".

We wrapped up all I Am David outstanding activities and assignments before visiting the library. Students in 8-1 returned to class to complete notes on satire and discussed a satirical comic strip in preparation for tomorrow's activity.
We completed our expository essays. Those not printed in class today should be completed and ready to hand in at the start of tomorrow's class. Well done everyone on this first essay.
