ELA 8- We completed introductory paragraphs and began work on the body paragraphs of our I Am David essay.
Science- Students constructed their frame structure bridges in class today. We will test these on Monday. Excellent designs all around.
ELA 9- We discussed character and began working on a character outline for the protagonist for the illustrated book project. Students had class time today to complete their CD theme project which is due for Monday.

It is clear that we have some very creative writers in grade 9.

ELA 8- We completed our midterm today. Grades are posted in Powerschool. Science 7- We completed Topic 1 reading and began designing a golfball bridge using the specifications on page 276-77. ELA 9- We reviewed Business letter formatting and continued our work on the CD project. This is due Thursday. Our midterm exam is tomorrow.
ELA 8- We completed our personal mind maps for students' selected essay topic and began developing our thesis statements. Science 7- We completed the unit 2 review corrections in class and discussed classification of structures based on design. ELA 9- We completed our review of the short story unit in preparation for our midterm on Tuesday. Students then used remaining class time to work on their theme CD project.
ELA 8- We reviewed sentence problems for the midterm exam and used a rousing game of Jeopardy to review for the short story portion of the midterm. More essay work will be done on Monday followed by the midterm exam in class on Tuesday. Science 7- We corrected #6-18 of the unit 2 midterm review. Students are asked to complete the review package for Monday. We began our new unit by classifying structures in class as well as completing our introductory reading in the text. ELA 9- We began our CD project today. Students are creating 10 thematic song titles to accompany a CD based on the theme and symbols in one of our short stories.
ELA 8- We began our outline work for the I Am David essays. We will be working on these five paragraph essays over the next week. Science 7- We continued our review work on chapter 2. Students are asked to have questions #6-18 finished for tomorrow. ELA 9- We worked on the plot diagram for "On The Sidewalk Bleeding" together and completed the review questions related to this story.
ELA 8- We completed the Chapter 7-8 questions and the final journal entry for our novel. Science 7- We corrected the Unit 3 review and began work on the Unit 2 review. ELA 9- We read "On the Sidewalk Bleeding" and will use this story as a means of reviewing short story elements prior to our midterm exam.
ELA 8- We completed our novel today and will conclude our questions and travel journal tomorrow in class. Science 7- We read and discussed energy saving techniques in the home and identified a refrigerator as a thermal energy mover. We corrected topics 1-5 of the unit 3 midterm review booklet and continued work on our review assignments. ELA 9- We completed our analysis of "Masque of the Red Death" and viewed the screen adaptation to compare it to the short story.
ELA 8- Students read and worked on the analysis questions for Chapters 7 and 8 Science 7- Thermos projects were due today. We corrected page 247 and made corrections to our topic 4-6 exam as well. Students worked on their unit 3 review assignment. We will continue to review for midterms Monday with this and unit 2 materials as well. ELA 9- We read "Masque of the Red Death" and sought examples of mood and imagery from the text to compare with the screen adaptation tomorrow.
ELA 8- We completed the chapter 6 questions as well as a journal entry #4. Science 7- We created passive solar heating models to use thermal energy from the sun in winter and avoid overheating in the summer. We read and reviewed topic 7 concepts related to sources of thermal energy and worked on the topic 7 review questions. Some students used class time to complete their thermos project questions. The project questions and diagram are due tomorrow. |
