ELA 8-1- We read and researched the poem "Haarlem".
Science 7-3- We discussed three different forms of weathering and the weathering and erosion caused by glaciers.
ELA 9-3- We wrote our poetry exam today and began a search for a poem to present for our beat cafe activity in April.
ELA 8-1- We read and researched the poem "Haarlem". Science 7-3- We discussed three different forms of weathering and the weathering and erosion caused by glaciers. ELA 9-3- We began our work on a summative poetry assignment. We will continue working on this tomorrow and will hand in our work Wednesday. Students will also have a short poetry quiz on Wednesday to complete our unit materials prior to spring break.
ELA 8-1- We read and listened to three poems and identified metaphor and simile usage within. Science 7-3- We drew and labeled the rock cycle and continued our vocabulary work in topic 2. ELA 9-3- We created protest poems based on the assigned rubric. All poems should be ready to hand in for Monday.
ELA 8-1- We established term III reading goals and tested our knowledge of figurative language with pop culture examples. Science 7-3- We handed in the Geologist's Mystery lab and learned about the Rock families. Rock on. ELA 9-3- We had a library period and interviewed to establish term III reading goals and review progress made towards term II goals. Students were introduced to the protest poetry assignment and have been asked to bring in a personal cause tomorrow that they can write a protest poem about.
ELA 8-1- We completed our Media studies exam today and completed any remaining work on our comic strip assignment in google classroom. Science 7- students completed the response question for the geologist's mystery lab from yesterday as well as the topic 1 review questions on page 360 after reading the chapter together as a class. Students read topic 2 and began a crossword search using new terms from the topic as an introductory activity. ELA 9-3- We examined two protest poems and discussed the context of "Pawn in Their Game".
ELA 8-1- We reviewed figures of speech as an introduction to our poetry unit. Our media studies exam is tomorrow. Science 7-3- Students identified five minerals using the techniques learned in class during the lab activity, "Geologist's Mystery". ELA 9-3- We discussed and handed in the response questions to "Think Like a Weightlifter..." and analyzed the protest satirical poem "Last Saskatchewan Pirate". We will correct the responses in class tomorrow before continuing with our exploration of protest poetry.
ELA 8-1- we reviewed for our media studies exam on Thursday and continued work on the comic strip assignment package. Students handed in their response to Bill Watterson's strips and worked on finding three original strips of their choice in google classroom to analyze. Science 7-3- We completed our introduction to unit 5 and completed our notes for mineral identification. Students had 20 minutes to complete any remaining work for their structures project which is due for tomorrow. ELA 9-3- We discussed and completed "Think like a Weightlifter" questions and began our discussion work for protest poetry. We will continue with protest poetry tomorrow.
ELA 8-1- We handed in our filmstudies booklet and continued work on comic strip analysis. Science 7-3- We finished aesthetic work on our truss bridges and completed the questions and diagrams for these projects. All project work is due for Wednesday. ELA 9-3- We read and responded questions based on two short poems while focusing on theme and message. "To My Son" and "Masks of Love" questions are due Monday if not submitted in class today. Students began work on "Think like a Weightlifter..." when done.
ELA 8-1- We completed our paragraphs and film booklet responses today and began work on comic strip analysis. Film booklets and paragraphs are due for Monday. Science 7-3- Students completed their unit 4 Exam and continued work on their questions and diagram for the structures project. We will complete any final aesthetic touches to the truss bridge models and complete any remaining write up work on Monday before moving on to Unit 5. ELA 9-3- We discussed rhythm, rhyme, and meter in the context of balads and read "The Cremation of Sam McGee" as a class. Students practiced scansion using the refrain from this poem.
ELA 8-1- We completed our star reading assessment today and continued work on our paragraph response to themes from "Secondhand Lions". Science 7-3- Students received their unit 4 review back and we corrected this as a class in preparation for tomorrow's unit 4 Exam. We continued work on our structures project and began responding to the questions. Aesthetic additions and final touches may be made to the model on Monday. All aspects of the project are due for Wednesday. ELA 9-3- We completed our star reading test today in preparation for term III goals. Students handed in their "Black Hull" questions and received passport stamps for this completion.
ELA 8-1- We completed tasks 1-5 in our film studies booklet and began working on the paragraph response for task 6. Science 7-3- Students completed and handed in their unit 4 review package and put the cross members on their truss bridge for the stable structure project due next Wednesday. |
