Students completed their quiz on sentence types and parts of speech. We began an analysis of a short story by John Steinbeck that will help us begin our next writing activity next week.

We completed our poetry activity and drafted main idea statements for "Enter This Deserted House". The poetry assignment is due for Monday and should be completed at home if it was not finished today in class. We began our examination of parts of speech with verb notes and practice activities.
We submitted any paragraphs not turned in last period. Students reviewed figurative language and their unique examples. We read and responded to several short poems and discussed main idea statements.
We revised and edited our paragraphs today. All paragraphs must be turned in no later than tomorrow at the beginning of class as no further class time will be given. We began our preliminary work with figurative language and poetry and will continue with this material tomorrow in class.
We used the google classroom app to type and revise our expository paragraphs after reviewing the outline drafted last class. Students will have a short time tomorrow to peer edit and revise. The paragraphs are due Thursday.
We visited the library and established our reading goals for term I. Students began writing an outline for their expository paragraph assignment. Outlines should be completed to include the topic sentence and the three inferences for tomorrow. We will complete the outline in class and begin typing our paragraphs into google classroom.
We completed our sentence problems activities and discussed the expository writing paragraph that we will be creating on Monday. Students are reminded to bring a duotang to class on Monday as we will be setting up reading logs for the AR reading program.
