Students in 8-1 and 8-2 corrected and handed in their chapter 4 questions. We began reading chapter 5. 8-2 will miss LA tomorrow due to the Christmas concert in the afternoon. We will resume reading chapter 5 on Friday for them. 8-3 had a chance to compete their chapter 4 responses today and took full advantage of the class time. Everyone in 8-3 should be ready to hand these questions in tomorrow.
Library period today allowed us to set goals and reflect on strategies to help meet these goals in term II. Students discussed goals with me and received new logs for this term. Students had an opportunity after this to continue working on their chapter 4 questions. These are due for 8-1 and 8-2. 8-3 is still playing a bit of catch-up and may hand in the chapter 4 questions on Thursday after a bit of class time tomorrow.
Students worked on their chapter 4 responses today and it was nice to have some work to focus on as it was an emotional morning. I am proud of my students and school community for the care and support they show each other. We will hand in the chapter 4 questions on Wednesday as tomorrow will be a Library and AR goal setting day.
We discussed the terms and context moving into chapter 4 today prior to reading to page 90. Students are asked to have completed the chapter reading for Monday. Questions for the chapter have been handed out and will be due for Tuesday, December 16th.
We completed the chapter 3 questions today in class. Students also completed the second journal entry for David in response to his last encounter on the road in chapter 3. We will read and begin our question work on chapter 4 tomorrow.
We completed reading chapter 3 and began our response questions together as a class. We will complete these questions tomorrow as revisit our travel journal for David.
We corrected and handed in the chapter 2 questions from I am David. We read chapter 3 together and discussed complication and plot elements as they arose. Students do not have homework but may continue reading chapter 3 if they desire.
8-3 will hand in the chapter 2 questions tomorrow as we missed a day due to the Christmas activities last Friday. We worked on these questions today in class. Students completed the STAR reading assessment today. Scores will help us set term II goals. New log books will be given next Library period. Students continued working on their chapter 2 questions for our novel study in the library when they completed their STAR test.
We discussed key passages from chapter 2 to assist with literal and inferential questions from the reading assignment. Students worked on responding to these questions in class. Questions and character web are due for Tuesday as we have Library on Monday and will use most of this time for an Star reading assessment and to exchange books.
Students submitted their chapter 1 questions and paragraph responses today. We created a travel journal for David that we will use throughout the novel study to periodically reflect on David's point of view. Students began the first journal entry in this book today when it was completed.
