We completed our work on the research essay. Students must submit their essay in google classroom by tomorrow. We read and responded to the play "Called Back". We will use this play as a model for our own one act scripts.
Students wrote their research essays today. Essays are to be handed in by Friday. We will review works cited pages tomorrow and be moving on to play writing.
We created outlines for our research essay on Emily Dickinson and began writing our drafts for this essay. We will continue with the writing process tomorrow.
Poetry exams were handed back today. We reviewed the questions and strategies for multiple choice LA exams. Students visited the Library and exchanged and renewed books. We concluded class with our research project. We will discuss the essay structure for this activity tomorrow in class.

We will continue with our Emily Dickinson research project on Monday. This is also library time so please bring your library book to class.
We began our research project on Emily Dickinson today. Students analyzed poets.org for its reliability using a checklist and began gathering information in response to 7 research questions. The poetry project is due tomorrow and we will write our poetry unit exam tomorrow as well.

We continued work in our poetry portfolio. Students should have their three poems completed for Monday. Monday we will focus on completing the second part of the project. All portfolio projects are due Thursday, April 23rd. The project and supporting documents are in google classroom.
Students handed in "Smokeroom on the Kyle" questions. We revised a poem to include more vivid verbs and descriptive language in preparation for our final poetry project. Students began their portfolio which will include three poems written by them. They will also analyze one poem or song of their choosing. The resources and assignment guide can be found in the google classroom.
We reviewed "Smokeroom on the Kyle" and completed the analysis questions that are due tomorrow. Students then read page 149-151 and answered #1a-d based on the speech.
